The Two S Factors & Your Muscle Building Quest

The two S factors are Sleep and Stress. They can have a huge influence on your muscle building quest.

When it comes to sleep if you don’t get an adequate amount of rest a lot of your body’s systems will struggle. For example, let’s take a look at the Endocrine System which is responsible for releasing muscle building hormones like testosterone and IGF1.

If you get less than 6 hours sleep per night these muscle building hormones will drop but the worst part is you’ll also see a rise in fat storing catabolic hormones. Your immune system needs to be strong for your recovery. Here are some tips to help you get a better night’s rest.

1. Try some Camomile Tea before bed.
2. Make sure you don’t have any caffeine late at night.
3. Structure your workouts.

If you workout too late at night you may have trouble sleeping. Everyone is different so you’ll have to experiment.

Stress can have the same effects as lack of sleep. It can slow down your metabolism.

Try to compartmentalize the priorities in your life. Basically if you’re getting stress from work or school deal with it during that time. Keep that stress out of the gym and deal with only thing at a time. You’ll also want to prioritize your concentrations. Get your most important goals taken care of early in the day when you have more energy.

Great video. I’m more interested in building muscle not so much in gaining weight. Maybe you have ideas on how one can do that.
